The Social Development Lab (SDL) is directed by Amanda Harrist and at various times is comprised of doctoral, masters, and undergraduate students. Research conducted in the SDL explores the development of children’s social competence, withdrawal, and aggression exhibited in preschool and the early years of school. We are particularly interested in family (parent-child, marital, and sibling) relationships and social-cognitive processes as linking the family and peer group. Within the peer group, we have focused on peer rejection, social acceptance, and obesity as important outcomes but also as antecedents to positive or negative trajectories of the child’s continued social development. Reprints of the lab's research publications are available via ResearchGate.com
The Social Development Lab is located in 306 Scott Hall
